Other cool stuff to see in Maui

Sharing is caring!

There were a lot of cool things to see and do on Maui. I’ll try to cover a few of them in this blog. First of all, our condo was really nice and the views out of our patio door were amazing! It was located in Kehei and close to the middle of Maui.

Another town we visited was Lahaina. It was a neat historic town about half an hour from us. We drove along the shore to get there and stopped at a pull-out along the way to look for whales. In the winter and early spring, humpback whales come to that cove to mate.

We spotted numerous water spouts and a few whales splashing in the water. It was pretty cool.

When we got to Lahaina, it had a neat historic district, that had a lot of good shopping. It also had some popular restaurants. We wanted to eat there, but the wait was too long. The coolest thing about Lahaina was the Banyon tree at the center of town. It was planted in the 1800s and took up almost an acre.

We also visited what they call the needle in Aio Valley. It was a very short walk to it. It is actually a mountain that is very narrow. They had a small shelter at the viewing area and a guy was there playing music by rubbing bowls. That was nice to listen to.

There were trails there that you could walk along a creek. I would have liked to have done that, but we didn’t have time.

Martha and Sabrina rode on a helicopter for sightseeing. I was too cheap to pay over $800 for all 4 of us to ride for 45 minutes. They both said that it was the best part of the trip for them.

The last day I got up early and took a walk. I got a really nice shore picture. We stayed in a town called Paia and the night before we ate at a restaurant there called Cafe Des Amis. They had the best crepes. I had a savory crepe with chicken, but the best one was a sweet crepe that Stoller had. It was banana with toffee sauce and cream. I think it was the best dessert I’ve ever had.
