Rome

Sharing is caring!

We spent a day in Rome. Three days would have been more reasonable. There is so much to see and do in Rome.

I noticed how busy of a city it was. There was traffic all over and you really had to be careful where you were going. We chose to take a Hop-on hop-off bus to see the sites. Marty wasn’t driving, so she remarked about how beautiful the city was.

Since we were limited on time, we went to see the coliseum and the Sistene Chapel. The Coliseum was surprising at how large it was. After a couple of thousand years, much of it was very well preserved also.

When we got there, they told us we needed tickets, but they were all sold out for that day. Apparently, you should buy tickets ahead of time. Then one guy told us to go to a booth across from us to get a handicapped ticket since Marty was in a wheelchair.

We went to the booth and he told us they were sold out. Then he whispered with a coworker and asked how many there were of us. We told him two. He slipped us some tickets and we were told to go into a short line. We got to see the inside and take pictures without paying for a ticket.

Marty wanted to see the Sistine Chapel, so we headed to the Vatican next. You have to walk a couple of miles to get to the Vatican. The Vatican is actually separate from Italy and is ruled by the Pope.

The walk is very scenic and we got several pictures along the way. Once inside the Vatican, you have to go to the Vatican Museum. Again having a wheelchair helped. We got free tickets and got to go right in. The museum is amazingly large.

You have to go up an elevator and walk a long way to get to the Sistine Chapel. Once inside it is amazing! They don’t allow pictures inside, so we don’t have any of the ceiling.

If you go to Rome, plan ahead and allow 2 or 3 days to see it. I added some of Marty’s pics at the end again. Hope you enjoy them!
