Branson Baby!

Sharing is caring!

Over Spring break, we took a trip to Branson, Missouri. We took my 15-year-old daughter and a friend of hers. It’s a great family destination. I don’t think you can run out of stuff to do at Branson. (You can run out of money though.)

We booked a condo through VRBO. It worked well for us except that it was on the second floor. This made it a little more difficult for my wife to make it up, but she did it every day without complaining. Way to go Marty!

It is about a 10-hour drive from our place. It’s not terrible, but after driving all day, I was ready to find a restaurant and go to our condo to just relax. Branson is very touristy with lots of lights.

Prices aren’t as bad as in Hawaii, but you can easily pay $300 for four people to go to a show. Almost every place you go there are what I call body snatchers. These are people at a booth asking if you would like discount tickets. If you are interested, you are scheduled to go to a sales presentation, but you can get a considerable discount on tickets.

We ended up seeing four presentations. I figure it saved us over $1,000 dollars. Almost all of the presentations were in the morning when we didn’t have something else scheduled and they usually lasted 1.5 hours -2.5 hours. I figured at the rate we were saving, it made my time more valuable than when I work.

We ended up going to most of the shows we wanted to see, doing a lot of excursions and eating a lot of good food. Almost all of the places we went to eat at had quite good food. Even the buffet was better food than most buffets I’ve been to.

The girls and my wife also enjoyed going to thrift stores. I wasn’t sure we would have enough room in the car for everybody to be able to come back home. I also understand that they have good fishing there, but I didn’t have time for that.

We also enjoyed going to an escape room there. If you’ve never been to one, it’s a great family adventure. They lock you in this furnished room and you have an hour to solve clues and riddles, find keys and combinations, so you can unlock the door. If you push a button, they will give you clues.

They have some great rides there, as well as nature walks. There are plays you can go to, magic shows, wild west shows, comedy shows and music shows.

Over the next few blogs, I will try cover the shows and attractions we went to and what we liked and didn’t like. It had been over twenty years since we had been there, and it was good to go back again.
