We went fishing in Michigan for King Salmon again this year. We fished in a creek called Bear Creek. We have to book our cabin a year in advance to get a room.

Last year there wasn’t a lot of fish and they were small. This year was totally different. I have never seen as many fish as were there this year. They were also a lot of large fish.

In addition to this, I don’t know if most people went to Tippy dam or what, but there were very few people there. We found a really good spot and the first morning only I and my friend were there for a couple of hours.

I went back to the same spot on Wednesday morning and I was the only one there. It was almost like a dream. We cleaned 40 fish between 4 of us in three days. That makes a lot of fish when some of them are over 20 lbs.
The largest one I caught was 22 lbs. The biggest one caught in our group was 27 lbs. These are really strong fish. They fight like crazy.

A weird thing that happened to me was when I caught one fish on a green rooster tail I had. I figured it was a good lure, so I cast it again. I thought I was snagged and it broke off. I hated to lose it so I walked where the fish were to see if I could find it. Then I saw it swim off. It was stuck in a fish. I tied another lure on and hooked a fish. I fought it for a bit and my lure came loose. When I reeled it in, my green rooster tail was on my hook. What are the odds?!

The fish are heavy to carry out. One morning we had 9 of them. We tied them to a limb and carried it out about a 1/2 mile down the trail to get out and dump them in the truck.

It was great time in a very pretty location. This was the best year of fishing I’ve had. I’ve never seen so many fish and so few people.
