The last full day that we were in Ireland, we went to see Malahide Castle in the morning. It was one of the more interesting castles in that it was restored and very castle like plus it had beautiful grounds. We first took a tour of the castle. This was interesting because we learned the history of the castle and how it was built in stages.
We also learned about the people that lived in the castle. They had pictures on the walls of some of the previous in habitants. the castle was also furnished with period furniture. It was very rich and ornate.
We had time to explore the grounds. They were well maintained and kept up. They were quite pleasant and inviting. By this time we had seen so many castles, it was hard to keep them all straight. This was definitely one castle I would recommend seeing if you make it to Ireland.
After the castle we drove into Dublin and Hattie wanted to go to an escape room. We found one that was Alice in Wonderland themed. It took us about a half an hour to find a parking spot, so we were a little late getting there.
Once we got there, we discovered it was up a long stairs. Marty had to stay downstairs while Hattie and I went to the room. We solved two out of three of the locks. The guy said that was good because the room was designed for 5 or 6 people and we were short on time.
That evening we went to an Irish Dance and Dinner show called The Belvedere Irish Nights. It was an incredible amount of fun. The food was very good, the dancing and music was incredible! There was a guy there that had won a dance contest for Ireland. The guys doing the talking ad music were great and very funny.
The other dancers had been in Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. Some of the audience members got to go on stage and try it. I got volunteered by Marty and Hattie. If you get to Dublin, I highly recommend this show!
Overall, we had an incredible time in Ireland and it is one of my top places I would recommend for a vacation!
